(Imperial County Board of Supervisors says thanks to the Viejas and Manzanita Bands of the Kumeyaay Indian Tribes)….At their meeting Tuesday the Supervisors adopted a proclamation thanking the Viejas and Manzanitas for their support of the senior citizens in Imperial County.

The tribes are once again Diamond sponsors of the Area Agency on Aging’s Senior Appreciation Event. The third annual event is being held Wednesday. During the event representatives from the two tribes will present the AAA a check for $6,000. The will be the second year the Viejas-Manzanitas have donated $6,000 to the event. In receiving the County Proclamation a representative with the Viejas Tribe said they revere their elderly, and they revere the elderly of all cultures. They said they believe we should take care of the elderly and give them all that they need. The third Annual Senior event will be held at the National Guard Armory on Fourth Street in El Centro. During the event Doctor Jens Hutchens will be honored for his generous and tireless service to the local seniors.
