(Calexico is going after truants)…The City Council Tuesday adopted an ordinance to eliminate loitering youth. According to the ordinance, minors will be prohibited from loitering in public places during school hours. The second reading of the ordinance was held at this weeks City Council meeting, which means it is now law. Underage kids loitering at any public place, including parks, will be picked up and taken to school. One of the reasons behind the ordinance was lagging attendance at the local schools. Also Tuesday the Council decided they wanted their agendas sooner. The agendas had been prepared and sent out on Fridays, three days ahead of the Council meeting. This week the Council decided they wanted the agendas a week before the bi-monthly meetings. Those wishing to appear at a City Council meeting should contact the City Clerks office for the deadline to submit back-up material. |
