(Two kidnap victims rescued in Mexicali)…A coordinated operation between Federal, State and Municipal Police in Mexicali conducted two separate raids just minutes apart. The first home was in the Colonia Santa Teresa. At just after 12:00 noon a massive force of law enforcement agents raided the house and found Jorge Alfonso Cervantes tied to a bed. He was rescued unharmed. In the second raid, another large number of agents went into a home in the Colonia Industrial. Ricardo Malo Valadez was rescued from that house. Malo was also rescued unharmed. Officials say shots were fired and one agent was injured. Officials did not say how serious the injury was. In all, seven people were arrested, all in their early 20’s or late teens. The officials said all the suspects were from Tijuana and the State of Sinaloa, Mexico. Cervantes is the owner of a chain of Carnicerias named Super-Chivas. Malo runs clothing stores in Mexicali. Agents say the two houses had been under surveillance for several days before the raids went down Wednesday afternoon. |
