This coming October, Saturday the 21st, KXO Radio will be hosting their 3rd annual Desert Clean Up. Hopefully we will see several hundred volunteers on hand to pick up any and everything that doesn't belong.

And please remember the first 150 volunteers will receive a free event T-shirt. I would like to thank Ken Belt for organizing the clean up and making the last two clean ups so successful. Ken has enlisted the support of many local businesses with their donations of time, money and products, many of which will be used for some really great prizes to be raffled off. Ken has ran advertisements, lined up port-a-potties, huge trash dumpsters, refreshments, and is even having lunch delivered.

You would be surprised at the amount of trash that can be picked up in half a day. Last year's trash included carpets, sheet rock, car parts, bar-b-ques, wire, lawn furniture, awnings, signs, camper shells, literally hundreds of cans and bottles and thousands of nails and even whole burned out cars. The BLM and the CHP were on hand to help out also. I think it's great when a community, people, businesses, organizations and government can all come together to do something like this. Hopefully the desert will be a little cleaner for a while. Remember- You haul it in - You haul it out! Hope to see you at this year's Desert Clean Up.
