(One of the loudest voices in Imperial County has been silenced)….Officials say Jeanne Schmidt passed away Sunday at Pioneers Memorial Hospital. The 86-year-old Brawley resident reportedly went to P M H for surgery five days ago, and never recovered. She was preceded in death by her husband, U.S. Magistrate Joseph Schmidt. For years Jeanne Schmidt was an outspoken advocate of the downtrodden. She used every media possible to get her point across, and was well known at almost all law enforcement departments. Jeanne Schmidt was a major animal advocate, and she went to any length possible if she thought an animal was not being treated the way it should and the proper authorities were not doing what she thought they should. Services for Jeanne Schmidt are pending.
