Imperial Valley Strike Team Returns PDF Print E-mail

The Imperial Valley Strike Team that was dispatched to Northern California two weeks ago has returned. The team , consisting of firefighters and equiptment from Imperial County Fire Department as well as Holtville, Brawley and Calexico Fire Departments and an engine and four firefighters from the City of Yuma , returned home last night. The strike team initially responded to the Merced area and worked the Oliver Fire. . They were than reassigned to the BTU Fire further north. Their final assignment according to Yuma Fire spokesman Mike Erfert was in the Canyons Complex fire near Chico, California. For a time the team was in Yosemite National park. The Imperial Valley firefighters were mostly assigned to structural protection duties.
