(Imperial to get a check for a park)…Congressman Bob Filner will present the check to the Imperial City Council Tuesday. The presentation ceremony will be held in Lawrence Eager Park. The $150,000 check comes from a Department of Housing and Urban Development Economic development Initiative Grant. Filner was instrumental in securing the funds as part of the fiscal year 2008 Omnibus Appropriations Act. The funds will be used to help design and construct a Regional Park facility in Imperial. The facility will include multi use fields, Concession stands and restrooms, tot lots, a picnic area, parking, recreational trail access, basketball courts, sidewalks, batting cages and a lot more. The check presentation will be made at 10:30 Tuesday morning at the Mosaic Mural in Eager Park in Imperial. |
