(The Imperial Irrigation District Directors to discuss a possible Supply/Demand Imbalance)…..At their meeting Tuesday afternoon, the IID Board will determine of water supply and demand estimates for the 2009 water year warrant a Supply/Demand Imbalance declaration

. If the Board decides, an SDI declaration is warranted, additional decision points will be needed to finalize the initial apportionment value for agriculture water users. The declaration could result in a form of water rationing for Ag water users in 2009. The District water over-run has continuosly been over 100,000 acre-feet of water for the past several months. An over-run is the amount of water being used above their entitlement. At the August 5 Board meeting, staff presented an assessment of 2009 SDI conditions. The analysis evaluated a range of water use conditions and estimated the probability of water-user demand exceeding the available supply in 2009 ranged from 64-86 percent.
