(Imperial Irrigation District Board could take action on Local Entity recommendation)…..Last week staff, including the General Manager, suggested the IID Board take over the Local Entity responsibilities.

During the informational meeting, General manager Brian Brady said the recommended the Board assume the Local Entity function of mitigating the socioeconomic impacts of fallowing due to the water transfer agreement with the San Diego County Water Authority. The Local Entity was created by the revised fourth amendment to the water transfer agreement between the IID and the SDCWA. The IID Board is also expected to agree to send a letter to the Secretary of Interior. The letter will ask that the Drop 2 reservoir be named for the late Warren H. Brock. The reservoir is currently under construction at the sight of the old Brock Research Center. Board president John Pierre Menvielle says the request would be a fitting and proper tribute to Brock, a pioneer farmer of the Imperial Valley. The Imperial Irrigation District Board meeting is open to the public at 1:00 Tuesday afternoon. The Board of Directors meet in Condit Auditorium on Broadway in El Centro.
