(The Imperial Irrigation District Board accepts Local Entity recommendations)…By accepting the recommendations, the Local Entity will disband.

 In October 2006, the entity was reconstituted and given the task of distributing $3.5 million in interim settlement agreement funds to agricultural service providers and others negatively impacted by fallowing in 2003-04 and 2004-05. The non-competitive portion of the grant application process, in which $2.3 million was awarded to affected farm service providers, was completed in June 2007. The Competitive process, in which the remaining $1.2 million would be awarded to community based applicants providing job training or educational services. On March 19 of this year the entity awarded $333,552.00 to the Neighborhood House in Calexico. A second grant competition was released with a scheduled closing date of April 23 of this year. It offered $891,448. The entity recommended $171,479 go to the Imperial County Public Administrator, mainly to state funds lost to the fallowing projects; $220,654 was recommended for the Institute for Socio-Economic Justice for special projects; and $200,000 to Arbor for job training. The IID Board agreed with those recommendations and on a separate vote they agreed to grant $300,000 to Imperial Valley College. A new Entity will have to be named to distribute the next round of impact funds. Under the Quantification Settlement Agreement, San Diego County Water Authority will pay up to $40 million to cover socio-economic impacts resulting from land fallowing to obtain water for transfer to San Diego,
