Imperial County schools get state grants

(School Districts get State awards)….Governor Arnold Schwarezenegger has announced that the state has awarded over $283.3 million to school districts. The Districts receiving the funds are in Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties. The grants are to build new schools, modernize existing buildings, relieve overcrowding and to make emergency repairs to facilities. In Imperial County, Brawley Union High School is receiving $857,114 for emergency repair. Coachella Valley Unified School District will get $9.1 million for construction of the new Salton City Elwmentary.School. The State Allocation Board awarded the grants at their monthly meeting.
