Imperial County Health Department - Flu Shots All Around PDF Print E-mail

The Imperial County Health Department will begin administering flu shots next Tuesday ( 10/17 ) to any interested individuals. There will be three separate flu shot clinics during the month of October.

No shortage of this years  flu vaccine is anticipated. The Health Department flu clinics will  be held on Tuesday October 17  from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Thursday October 19 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM  and Tuesday October 24 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  All three clinics will  take place at the County Public Health Departments Training Center at 935 Broadway in El Centro. No appointment is necessary  to get a flu shot.The cost is $20.00 per person. Cost for high-risk individuals is only $2.00. Those considered high-risk include adults over 50 , a child under 5 or anyone with a chronic medical condition. Flu shots will be available at the Public Health Department on a walk-in basis during regular business hours , 8:00 AM till Noon and 1:00 PM till 5:00 PM Monday through Fridays, after October 17, 2006. Dr. Stephan Munday, County Public Health Officer told KXO News  "  Since the flu vaccine takes about two weeks to become effective, we strongly  advise individuals to come in early and get their flu shots to lessen their risk  of contracting the flu."
