(Ascencio pre-trial set for Thursday)….The 22 year old is accused of stabbing his nephews, killing one.

Frank Ascencio entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment earlier this week. During the arraignment, it was revealed the suspect was on probation at the time of the stabbings. His bail was set at $1 million for the homicide charge and $25,000 for the probation violation. Last Thursday Brawley Police say Ascencio argued with his mother at their home in on “H” Street in Brawley. The argument reportedly dealt with Ascencio’s continued absence from the apartment. It became heated, and the 22 year old reportedly stabbed his two nephews. A one year old and a three year old. The three year old died from his wounds at Pioneers Memorial Hospital. The one year old underwent surgery and was last reported in critical condition. Lt. Bret Houser of the Brawley Police Department says why the suspect took his anger out on his nephews has not been determined. The suspect’s teenaged sister was also stabbed, but her wounds were not serious.
