(Holtville will see if residents back up their request in November)….Holtville City Manager Laura Fischer says residents who attend the City meetings have asked that the Police Department be refurbished.

She said Thursday the residents have said they were willing to pay for the efforts. They will get their chance in November. The Holtville City Council has agreed to put a 4% Utility Tax increase on the November ballot. Fischer said the entire increase would go towards rebuilding the Cities Police Department. Currently Holtville contracts with the County for a Police Chief and for Patrols at night. Fischer told K X O News that the City Council recently adopted a balanced $6.9 million budget, but that did not include any funds to rebuild the Police Department. She said that would have to come from the increased Utility Tax, if it is approved by voters in November.
