(Institute for Socio-Economic Justice holds a press conference)…The conference Monday was to publicize the treatment of residents of the Brown Mobile Park and Trailer Mecca. Eviction notices were issued to the residents. The Brawley based institute says this is despite the residents obtaining permits to repair their trailers and mobile homes. The City of Holtville says the residents have not complied with health and safety standards. They say eviction, however, has more to do with City Ordinance. The City changed the zone for the area to commercial. The change happened some time ago. City officials say the Mobile home parks must be moved to comply with the new ordinance. |
