Holtville not waiting for final count

(Holtville is not waiting for the final Tally)…..The City had a measure on the November 4 ballot. Measure “C” asked for a Utility Tax increase to pay for a new Police Department. At last count, the measure did not pick up the two-thirds majority vote needed to pass. The City manager is not waiting for the thousands of absentee, provisional and damaged ballots to be counted. Laura Fischer will be asking the City Council tonight to authorize her to expend staff time and resources to prepare a contract for Law Enforcement services. The new contract could be an extension of the current contract with the County. The current contract with the Sheriff’s Department runs out in January. The Holtv8ille City Council meets at 6:00 tonight in the Council Chambers at 121 West Fifth Street.
