(Measure C fails, but the City of Holtville moves on)….The Holtville City Council Monday gave the City Manager direction to pursue Police Services.

Laura Fischer asked the Council Monday to authorize her to expend Staff time and Resources to prepare a contract for Law Enforcement services. Fischer, the City Manager, says the Council approved her request on a 4-0 vote. She was directed to pursue a Request For Proposal from the County Sheriff’s Department for Police Services in the City. Holtville currently has a contract with the County for a Police Chief and Deputy services, as needed. That contract runs out in January. Fischer says any new contract negotiations with the County would include the current Holtville Police Department employees being absorbed into the Sheriff’s Department and continuing to work in Holtville. Contract talks will begin after the county submits the RFP.
