The Holtville Unified School District is offering a reward of up to $1,500 for the arrest and conviction of of the person or persons responsible for a series of burglaries at three Holtville schools. Over the past 8 months a rash of burglaries has cost the District approximately $30,000 worth of computers , band instruments and other educational supplies. In addition to the loss of property , the District has spent several thousand dollars in repairs to buildings that were broken in to. At Finley Elementary School , two burglaries resulted in the loss of numerous computers , printers and projectors. The Band Room at Holtville Middle School was burglarized and musical instruments were stolen. Many of those instruments were recovered but thousands of dollars worth of band instruments are still missing. Vandals at Holtville High School extensivley damaged school property when they took computers and other items. Holtville Unified School District Superintendent Jon LeDoux told KXO News, "These losses to the individual schools directly impact the quality of education that we can provide to our students. The District has made a significant investnment in providing necessary tools for our teachers and support staff to use in providing an outstanding education for all of our children. It is extremely disturbing that someone would commit such reprehnsible acts against our schools."
