Harold Carter's contract extended

(Carter to stay on as Chief a little longer)….El Centro City Manager Robert Duran has confirmed Carter’s contract has been extended. Duran says the extension means Harold Carter will remain interim Police Chief for the City until May of 2009. The extension allows the City to re-advertise the position. Duran says the original search resulted in very few even minimally qualified candidates. The City Manager blamed the national economy. He says very few people are currently willing to leave their current jobs and relocate. Duran says the position will be readvertised after the first of the year. In the meantime, the City Manager says the line of communication has improved in the Police Department. He says two levels of beauracracy have been eliminated, providing for direct communications within the department.
