(Human smugglers caught in the act)…Border Patrol agents arrest one suspected smuggler and 25-suspected illegal immigrants Monday. Agents reportedly began following a suspicious van at around 8:45 Monday morning near Tecate in east San Diego County. The Border Patrol followed the van to a parking area along State Route 188. They reportedly witnessed people leave the van and climb into a secret compartment of a trailer of a tractor/trailer rig. The agents found 23 men and two women in the trailer. The driver of the van fled, and got away. The driver of the semi, a 49-year-old man, was taken into custody. He reportedly will face federal charges of human smuggling. |
