(Firefighters will be at the Mall all day Friday)…It is all part of the Inaugural Imperial Valley “Give Burns A Boot” Firefighter Boot Drive. On the first official shopping day of the Christmas Season, firefighters will be passing around the Boot at the Imperial Valley Mall. The day after Thanksgiving is said to be the busiest shopping day of the Holiday Season. On that day firefighters from around the County will be at the Mall greeting Holiday shoppers from 5:00 am until 2:00 pm. They will be asking shoppers to drop whatever donation they can into the boots the firefighters will be carrying. The firefighters will be located throughout the Mall collecting donations for the Burn Institute of Imperial Valley. The organization’s Emergency Relief Fund has been hit especially hard due to the recent wildfires and because of increased demand for its support services. Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer for the Institute, James Floros, says all money raised stays in Imperial Valley. He says the Boot Drive Donations will help to fund local fire and burn prevention in schools, and assist with ongoing burn survivor support programs.
