Free entertainment and information at the Courthouse in El Centro

(Thursday is Law Day)…The County Board of Supervisors declared May 8 as Law Day during their meeting Tuesday. Imperial County has marked the special day for several years. It is becoming a major event. The local Bar Association is sponsoring the events held at the County Courthouse on Main Street in El Centro. From 4:00 to 7:00 pm, there will be several activities. Representatives from the Imperial County Bar Association, Family Law Facilitator, Court Staff, Local Justice Providers and the Mexican Consulate will all be on hand with information and free advice. There will be displays from the Fire Department, Police and Swat vehicles and a demonstration of the Jaws of Life. Children will be given the opportunity to have their pictures taken on a Judges Bench. Poster and Essay contest winners will be announced. Entertainment is being provided by Mariachi Mixteco and the Fuego Latino Dancers. Hot Dogs will be provided by Turning Point. The entire event is free. The theme for this year’s event is “Rule of Law: Independence and Accountability.”
