Fires and extreme heat, a bad combination PDF Print E-mail

(Fire fighters respond in scorching heat)….A few fires around the County this week were made worse by the extreme temperatures.

 With the mercury hitting between 114 and 116 Monday Brawley fire fighters were called to a field fire North of Highway 111 and Andre Road. The County sent a water tender and Calipatria also assisted. The fire was reported at just before 3:00 Monday afternoon. At around 9:38 Monday night fire fighters in Brawley responded to a vehicle fire at an apartment building in the 1200 block of North Imperial Avenue. Jorge Heredia reported was burned in his groin area. He was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital for treatment. He was last reported in stable condition. At 3:30 Tuesday afternoon a brush fire was reported at Senator’s Wash. Fire crews spent over two hours combating that fire and 114 degree temperatures.
