(The County Supervisors get some good news and some bad news)….The news surrounded the Sunbeam Lake Park renovation project.

Planning and Development Director Jurg Hueberger gave the Board an update on the project. The bad news delivered by Hueberger was the need for additional grading at the Park. The additional cost is around $90,000. Hueberger also asked the Board Chairman to sign the 404 permit as approved by the Army Corp and accept the conditions imposed by the permit. He said meeting those conditions would be difficult, though he felt it could be done. The good news is that the renovated Park is expected to open this month, on schedule. Even better news was the announcement of another anonymous donor to the project.

Hueberger said the project has depended, for some part, on donations. The latest is word that a person has offered to donate a complete playground equipment set, worth thousands of dollars. Hueberger said the person does not want to be named, but he does want to give back to the County. The anonymous donor will be traveling with Hueberger and a contingent from the County to Boulder City, Nevada to view playground equipment. The anonymous donor is also said to be interested in donating equipment for the newly constructed soccer field at the Sunbeam Lake Park.

A special dinner for those involved in the reconstruction of the park will be held June 13. Hueberger assured the Supervisors no County funds would be used for the event.
