| Washington, D.C. - Congressman Bob Filner voted no on the economic bailout bill passed by congress today. Filner issued a statement saying, " I am very disappointed with the vote. This bill added $150 billion as a bribe to get a dozen votes. Unfortunatly, they succeeded." Filner went on to say, I voted against this bill because I refuse to accept the false dichotomy between voting yes and doing nothing. I agree that action is necessary, but I wanted a bill that would more directly help the American economy by stimulating job creation , keeping people in their homes , and moving forward with an alternative energy policy."According to Filner, " Alternatives were blatantly overlooked." Filner is a Democrat who represents California's 51st Congressional District which includes all of Imperial County. |
