Filner to discuss veterans cemetery

(Congressman to meet with Veterans official)….Congressman Bob Filner will meet with William Tuerk Friday in San Diego. Tuerk is the Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs of the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs. They will host a roundtable meeting to discuss the Miramar Satellite expansion of Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Tuerk is expected to share plans for the Satellite. Filner says he has been working for an expansion of Fort Rosecrans for a decade. He says he is gratified the Under Secretary is responding to the call for honorable burials for all veterans in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Fort Rosecrans has no more room for ground burials. Filner says the Miramar Air Station has been identified as a location for the expansion of Fort Rosecrans. The roundtable discussion begins at noon Friday at the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center in San Diego.
