A man harvesting corn died this morning after being run over by a tractor.

The Imperial County Sheriffs Office and the Coroners Department are investigating the death of a 41 year old Mexicali man who was fatally injured when a tractor and trailer being used to harvest corn ran over him, not once but twice. Deputy Coroner Henry Proo said the man was part of a harvesting crew working a field near McKim and Ralph Roads in the Holtville area. Proo said the man apparently attempted to step up onto a moving trailer that was being pulled by a tractor. He lost his footing, fell and was run over by the equiptment. The tractor driver, alerted to the accident by screams of other crew members, backed up ,and ran over the man a second time. The man , whose identity has not been released pending notification of his next of kin , was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the accident is continuing.
