Fatal victim identified

(Fatal injury victim identified)…..Deputy Coroner Sergeant Charles Lucas said 55-year-old Ramon Villa of Calexico died after his Toyota sedan collided with two vans. The tragic collision occurred at around 1:00 Monday afternoon on Interstate 8, west of Dogwood Road. Two vans were on the shoulder of the Interstate. The California Highway Patrol says Villa was driving about 60 miles per hour when his vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and collided with the Dodge Caravan, pushing into the Chevy van, injuring the three people standing in front and around the Caravan. Villa was taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center, but succumbed from his injuries at the hospital. The injured, 25 year old Paola Orozco, her 81-year-old father Jose Luis and juvenile sister, all from El Centro, were also taken to E C R M C. The 25 year old, who had been trapped under the Caravan as a result of the collision, was flown to the U C S D Medical Center in San Diego with serious leg injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine exactly what caused Villa’s death.
