Fatal Off-Road Accidents Taking Heavy Toll PDF Print E-mail

(There has been four separate fatal injury off-road accidents in less than a week)….The first was reported last Wednesday when 31-year-old Carl Planton of San Bernardino was killed in sand rail that crashed and burned. Saturday 24-year-old Jose Garcia of Sun Valley suffered fatal injuries when his all terrain vehicle flew over a dune and crashed at the base of the dune. Also Saturday 52-year-old David Lee Brown of Yuma, Arizona was killed in an open area near Winterhaven after his motorcycle went out of control and crashed. And Monday, 39-year-old Bill Campbell of Escondido was killed in the open desert near Glamis. The County Coroners Office has also identified the man killed in the traffic accident early Saturday morning at Ross and Barbara Worth Roads. Jose Vizcara Jr. was a passenger in the back of the vehicle and was ejected as it rolled. Two others in the vehicle suffered moderate to minor injuries. Autopsies on all the victims were scheduled for Tuesday, But Deputy Coroner Sergeant Charles Lucas said there may not be time for all of them.
