(Mexicali woman killed in single vehicle rollover)…The County Coroners office has identified the woman killed in the Saturday afternoon incident. Officials say 48 year-old Maria Rosauro Corrales Cachu was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle she was in, a Ford Explorer, was heading east on Interstate 8 at around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. Near Sidewinder Road the vehicle went out of control and overturned. The fatal injury victim was apparently trapped in the vehicle. Imperial County Fire was called in to help remove the woman from the Explorer. Rural Metro Ambulance Service also responded. They transported 3 passengers, all family members of the victim, to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment of various injuries. The Eastbound lanes of the Interstate were blocked for some time as emergency crews rendered assistance. The California Highway Patrol Winterhaven office is investigating the cause of the rollover. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday to determine the cause of death. |
