(Traffic was being diverted in the Mountains this morning)….The California Highway Patrol in East San Diego County was diverting eastbound traffic on Interstate 8 to Old Highway 80 while they investigated a fatal injury accident. The accident was reported at just before 9:00 this morning just west of Crestwood Road. Preliminary reports are that a passenger vehicle collided with a slow moving truck. The C H P says the vehicle was carrying 6 passengers, including two infants. One of the people suffered fatal injuries. The infants were transported to an area hospital as a precautionary measure. The Highway Patrol was continuing to investigate, and no further information has been made available.
