El Centro (KXO) - Two men are dead following a shooting in the Ranch Market in El Centro.

El Centro Police received a call that shots were fired in the Ranch Market in the Valley Plaza Center in El Centro.The first call to police came at 4:34 Wednesday afternoon. Officers responding to the market worked to evacuate the store and secure the perimeter of the center. They found two men who had been shot inside the store. One of the men, the victim , was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 5:00 PM. The other man , the suspect , was mortally injured with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. El Centro Police Chief Leonard Knight told KXO News that the suspect was the brother-in-law of the victim and the shooting was apparently over what the Chief said were " family issues".The identification of the suspect and the victim have not been released pending family notification.Neither was employed by the store. El Centro Police assisted by Imperial County Sheriffs Office investigators are continuing to interview the many employees and shoppers who were in the store at the time of the shooting. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday to provide more information.
