El Centro to set-up checkpoint Friday

(DUI Checkpoint to be set-up in El Centro)….El Centro Police Sergeant Ray Bonilla says the checkpoint will set-up at 8:00 Friday night and continue until 2:00 Saturday morning. The Department will not reveal the location until after they are set-up. Bonilla says the checkpoint is to help reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol-involved crashes. He says the DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving. Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
