The El Centro Police Department is actively investigating five case of fraud and forgery involving a local man.
Miguel David Derma is suspected of committing fraud by entering into verbal contracts to do handyman type work and then stealing money that is to be used to buy materials. Derma also goes by Michael and Mike. He is also suspected of earning the trust of victims and then stealing checks from their homes. Derma is described as a Hispanic male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 240 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He usually wears a goatee and a moustache. There is an outstanding arrest warrant for Derma on charges unrelated to the current investigation. El Centro Police Sgt. Jeff Mason told KXO News that it is important to understand that Derma has been named as a suspect. Mason said, " He has not been charged with or arrested for any of the crimes we are investigating. Anyone who feels that they might have been victimized by Mike Derma is encouraged to contact Detective Leo Bulong at the El Centro Police Department at 760 - 336 -8982. |
