(One Charter School gets the go-ahead, the other will be back)….The El Centro Elementary School District Board of Trustees discussed the two Charter School proposals Tuesday night.

Last month the Board had given organizers for both proposed Schools several stipulations to be met. The Schools were given 30 days to meet the stipulations. This week the organizers of both the Imagine Charter School and the Ballington Charter School were back with their petitions. The Board was one member short. Trustee Childers did not attend. Imagine was successful this time around. The School Board approved their petition on a 3-1 vote. The Board did add a couple minor stipulations to their approval. The Ballington Academy will be coming back in 30 days. A spokesperson for Volunteers of America said the Board still had questions about Ballington’s proposed Special Education program. She said that concern and others would be addressed, and they would return to the Board at next months meeting. The V O A is backing the Ballington Academy.
