(Commercial establishments are being billed differently in El Centro)…Commercial City Utility bills now contain amounts due for water and sewage, but not trash.

El Centro City officials say Commercial bills are now different. They say the City has stopped billing for commercial trash pick-up. They say the bills were based on container size, and commercial establishments were changing their containers too often for the City to keep up with. They say CR&R Waste and Recycling is now billing commercial establishments directly. Residential bills will remain the same. CR&R recently renegotiated their contract with the City of El Centro. The new contract allowed for a rate increase for trash collection. City Manager Ruben Duran said the increase was substantiated partly because of the increased fuel prices.
