The El Centro Fire Department responded to a structure fire at about 6:30 Sunday evening. Three units of the Posada del Sol Apartment complex near Pico Avenue and Waterman Avenue were destroyed by the fire. A car parked behind one of the apartments was also destroyed. El Centro Firefighters responded to the scene and immediatly sounded a second alarm for additional manpower and equiptment to keep the fire from spreading to even more apartments. Prior to the fire departments arrival neighbors had used fire extinguishers and garden hoses to try to save the buildings. According to El Centro Fire Chief Chris Petree there were no injuries to either residents ofr firefighters.Cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Dollar value of the loss has also not been set.
