(Over $1 million seized in two days at Calexico Port)…It started Sunday at the Downtown Port of Entry, Customs and Border Protection Officers searched a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. In the floorboard, the CBP drug-sniffing dog found 23 packages of methamphetamine. The 47-year-old driver, a Mexicali resident, was arrested. On Monday a 20-year-old Mexicali resident was stopped. He was driving a 2003 Honda Accord. Officers found 13 packages of cocaine hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle. Later that same day, another 20 year old, driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima was stopped at the Downtown Port. Officers found 25 packages of Cocaine in that vehicle. In total, 98 pounds of Cocaine and 18 pounds of methamphetamine, worth over $1 million were seized. None of the arrested suspects were identified, but officials say the driver of the Maxima was an El Centro resident. |
