(Two vehicles jump the Border fence, literally)…Border Patrol agents say the incident occurred Thursday in the mountains near Tecate.

They say a ramp system was set-up on the Mexican Side of the International Border. A Suburban and a Ford F-150 pick-up were driven over the ramp, and into the United States. Agents followed the vehicles west on Highway 94. Officials say the two vehicles headed south towards the Tecate Port of Entry, but then split, and went in different directions. A tire deflation device was used on the Suburban. The vehicle eventually crashed into a fence, and the driver fled into Mexico. The pick-up crashed into a ditch, and the driver of that vehicle was placed under arrest. Agents searched both vehicles and found 226 cellophane wrapped bundles of marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana was 1,850 pounds, worth $1.5 million. The Border Patrol turned the suspected smuggler and marijuana over to Operation Alliance, a collaborative multi-agency anti-drug taskforce. Both vehicles were seized, as well.
