(Double homicide suspect interviewed, but not arrested)….Mexicali law enforcement officers reportedly traveled to Yuma to speak with 18-year-old Roberto Amaya.

The Somerton, Arizona resident reportedly confessed to killing a husband and wife in Mexicali early last Saturday morning. Reports out of Mexicali indicate Amaya had gone to the home of his rival in a romantic triangle. Amaya reportedly had a heated discussion with 18-year-old Raul Gonzalez Morales. The suspect allegedly took out a .45 caliber handgun and shot Gonzalez Morales in the leg. The victim’s parents came into the room, and Amaya reportedly shot both of them in the head. The parents were identified as 59-year-old Raul Gonzalez Torres and 48-year-old Maria Elena Andrade Ramirez. Amaya reportedly returned to Arizona, and turned himself in to Yuma police. The Yuma police called officials in Mexicali, who traveled to Yuma to interview the suspect. He is said to have confessed to the double homicide, but claimed self-defense. The Mexican law enforcement officers did not arrest the suspect, saying the situation was complicated, and they needed to continue the investigation.
