(Suspect shoots Mexicali Police Officer and escapes)…Mexicali State Preventive Police were transporting 33-year-old Simon Palacios Montanez at the time of the incident. Palacios is considered very dangerous and was still at large as of Wednesday night. He is suspected of kidnapping and murder. The suspect was handcuffed, with his hands behind his back, when he somehow got hold of the handgun of one of the Officers transporting him. Palacios shot the in the back, and ran off. The Officer, Arturo Lopez Avila, is hospitalized. His condition is not considered critical. At last report, police were conducting house-to-house searches in the surrounding Colonia looking for the suspect. |
