Authorities have released the names of the drivers injured in Tuesday afternoon accident.

26 year old Jenny Cortez of El Centro was driving a red Ford Expedition westbound on Interstate 8 this afternoon when she was struck head-on by a wrong way driver. Cortez was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center and then air lifted to a San Diego hospital for treatment of major injuries sustained in the accident. 25 year old Joseph Dhalliwal of Holtville was also westbound when the Cortez SUV came down on top of the front end of his pick-up truck. Dhalliwal sustained moderate injuries and was transported to El Centro Regional. He told investigating officers that he was 2 or 3 car lengths behind the SUV when the collision occurred. The driver of the wrong way truck was a 57 year old Calexico woman whose name has not been released pending notification of family. The imvestigation into the accident is continuing.
