(Mendoza may have some competition, when all is said and done)…..At last report incumbent Stella Mendoza was the only candidate to have filed for the Division 4 seat she currently holds. That may change, if it has not already. Michael Cox, a prominent Farmer and Businessman has reportedly taken out the necessary documents to file. At last report, he had not yet qualified as a candidate. Also taking out papers for Mendoza’s seat was Former IID Director Tony Gallegos and retired schoolteacher Michael Steven Gaspar. They, too, must return their documents to qualify as official candidates. The deadline to file the necessary documents is 5:00 pm Friday. The Division 2 IID race is between incumbent John Pierre Menvielle and his old adversary, former IID Director Bruce Kuhn. The biggest field on a County ballot is in the race for the third Supervisorial District. There are currently four qualified candidates seeking to replace Supervisor Joe Maruca, and two more who, at last report, had taken out the documents but had not yet qualified as candidates. The qualified candidates for Supervisor District 3 are; Michael Kelley, Chief Probation Officer; Allan Early, listed as an Entrepreneur; Mark Larson, a Consultant; and former Supervisor Jeanne Vogel, a School Board Trustee. Still expected to file for race is Imperial City Councilman Geoff Dale and Small Business Owner Ray Saucedo. There are two qualified candidates seeking Larry Grogan’s District 2 Supervisorial seat. They are former Sheriff Harold carter and former El Centro City Councilman and business owner Jesus “Jack” Terrazas. The election is June 3. |
