(The future of the County Dental program will be discussed Tuesday)…The Public Health Director says it is time to down the program.

Robin Hodgkin has told the Board of Supervisors that the number of people using the County Dental Program has been greatly reduced. She says the diminished numbers are mainly due to the increased number of Dental Services in Imperial County that now accept medi-cal and medi-care payments. If the Supervisors agree with Hodgkin’s proposal, three positions will be deleted. Only one person, however, will lose his job. That would be the County Dentist. Hodgkin says the Dentist Assistant and office assistant can be absorbed into the system. Hodgkin is asking the force reduction go into effect July 31. The County Dentist has argued there are enough patients to keep the County program in operation. He has said all that is needed is a new location. The Supervisors convene their meeting this week at 8:30 Tuesday morning.
