County budget hearings begin next week

(Supervisors begin work on Budget Monday)….County Budget hearings begin June 9. The Board of Supervisors will hold at least 3 days of hearings, but will keep the hearings open until June 17. County Executive Officer Roberta Burns asked that the hearings remain open to allow for any last minute changes. She has said she expects to ask the Board to accept and adopt a balanced $300 million budget on the 17^th. During the budget hearings, the Supervisors will hear Augmentations, Adjustments, Reclassifications and reports from the various County Departments, before deciding to ratify the spending plan. Burns says the budget is a living document and is subject to change. Counties, however, by law must submit a balanced budget to the State, if they expect to receive state funding.
