Cops And Robbers In El Centro PDF Print E-mail

El Centro Police arrested three suspects and recovered two stolen cars after a high speed pursuit Tuesday. It all started early Tuesday morning when an El Centro resident reported that two vehicles were stolen. A  Toyota Corolla and a Chevy Suburban were taken from the house in southwest El Centro. Later in the day a friend of the victim reported seeing the Toyota at a motel near Cottonwood and Ocoltillo When police responded to the area they became involved in a high-speed pursuit eastbound on Interstate 8, exiting at 4th Street and north on 4th at speeds over 80 miles per hour. The car, with three men inside, then entered a residential area where they abandoned the car and fled on foot. Within 10 minutes all three were in custody. El Centro Police Sgt. Jeff Mason identified the suspects as 29-year old Adan Javalera , the driver, 28-year old Alex Padilla and 21-year old Edward Estrada, all from Holtville Mason said that officers were able to then locate the stolen Suburban behind a motel in the 1200 block of Adams Avenue. Javalera is in custody, charged with vehicle theft, possession of stolen property and evading police. Bail is set at $25,000. Estrada's bail is $10,000 on charges of criminal conspiricy and delaying a police officer. Padilla is being held without bail because of a parole violation. He also faces new charges of criminal conspiricy and delaying a police officer.
