(San Diego area Congressman wants some answers surrounding the death of a Border Patrol agent)….Republican Congressman Brian Bilbray is upset the suspect in the killing of Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was let lose in Mexico.

Jesus Navarro Montes is suspected of being the driver of a Hummer that ran over Aguilar as he lay down a spike strip to stop the vehicle near Winterhaven last January. The suspect was arrested in Mexico on unrelated charges, and released from custody by a Mexicali Judge in June. The Republican Congressman says the Mexican Embassy in Washington D.C. has said the suspect was not detained for extradition because U.S. Officials never made a formal request for extradition. Bilbray chairs the Immigration Reform Caucus. He has written a letter asking the President and the Attorney General to confirm or deny the statement released by the Mexican Embassy. The letter has been signed by 36 other congressional representatives. Bilbray said they want to know if it is true the U.S. never asked for extradition of the suspect, and if they didn’t, why not? The Congressman says he has received no information from the Department of Justice or the White House in response to numerous requests made since June 27.
