College Fair coming May 20 in Calexico

(University of California/San Diego Chancellor to be the opening speaker at the Imperial Valley College Fair)…The College Fair will be held May 20 at Calexico High School. UC/San Diego Chancellor Marye Ann Fox and UC/San Diego Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs Penny Rue will offer opening comments. They are expected to encourage the students to stay in school, and they will ask the students to consider the University of California as their College destination. The University says a push is on to recruit Imperial Valley High School students. They say Imperial County has experienced an almost complete turn-around. It has gone from being the County with the fewest Students sent off to College to one of the highest in the State. The College Fair will begin at 10:30 in the morning with Javier Ramos, the College going initiative coordinator for the Imperial County Office of Education, giving an over-view of the college-going initiatives in place in the Valley for Chancellor Fox and the other participants.
