COLAB says filing a miss-understanding PDF Print E-mail

(COLAB says they did nothing wrong, intentionally)…Former County Executive Officer says COLAB violated a Fair Political Practice rule.

Roberta Burns said the rule violated states that when a thousand dollars or more is expended on a ballot issue, it must be reported to the Registrar of Voters. She says the Coalition of Labor, Agriculture and Business did not do that in their opposition to Measure D on the November 4 ballot. Aryn Moiola, Executive Director of COLAB, said legal advice was obtained before they began the campaign. She says the legal opinion they received was different from what was described by Burns. Moiola said if COLAB needs to file with the Registrars Office, the miss-understanding would be corrected. She says COLAB feels it is unfortunate such a large voter turn-out supported the Measure, but so be it. Moiola said her group is moving on. Burns has said she and a few other concerned citizens are contacting the State Fair Political Practices Commission seeking advice on how they should proceed.
