(It is not known how many left over ballots are left to be counted)….Registrar of Voters Dolores Provincio says Wednesday was spent organizing, coordinating and arranging.

She said Thursday would be spent counting. Provincio says there are many absentee and provisional ballots that have not been counted, but she says she does not know exactly how many, or how many are from the McCabe School District. The result of a bond measure on Tuesday’s ballot could change, depending on how many McCabe District votes are counted. At last report just over 53% went in favor of the bond measure. The measure needs 55% of the vote to be approved. Provincio says Super Tuesday ran very smoothly. She said the only major problem was one faced across the state. Non-partisan voters were not able to vote Republican. Provincio said this was not an Election Department snafu. The problem was the G O P decision to hold a closed primary. That decision was made years ago, but nobody was ever affected before because it does not pertain to State Elections and last Federal or Presidential Election, George Bush ran unopposed. A closed primary means only registered Republicans receive a ballot. Another problem for Republicans this Primary was those who filled out change of address forms, but failed to mark a party affiliation. They were considered Non-partisan, and were also unable to obtain a Republican Ballot. The San Diego Chapter of the Republican Party says they are investigating the problem.
